　　到底怎麼樣才能提綱挈領，聽出爵士樂的樂趣所在？即興到底有沒有分好壞？爵士與藍調有什麼不同？現代的爵士樂聽來怎麼跟傳統唱片中的爵士樂差那麼多？為何爵士樂跟其他流行音樂如搖滾、節奏藍調、拉丁、放克甚至嘻哈能有那麼多的交集，但卻能保持自己的不可取代性？……這些都是從事爵士演奏、教學與推廣教育的筆者，多年來在台灣各地舉辦活動時，第一線與觀眾對話所接觸的問題。

　　從個人的經驗來對照，其實證明了近年對於爵士樂好奇的人真的愈來愈多，然而能持續追尋鑽研的聽眾或樂手，其實仍是數量有限。主要的原因是爵士樂真的很容易親近，不難接觸，但是因為爵士樂的特色即在於「變化」，所以她沒有標準答案，每個人都能用主觀來聆賞或創作，各自表述的結果，就演變成為較為私密的聆賞習慣，不若流行音樂一般容易被風潮帶動，或引起眾多人的共鳴。

　　然而爵士樂還是有很重要的一些「通則」是不會改變的，而這些通則也成為了辨識爵士樂、甚至鑑賞爵士樂好壞的依據。對於爵士樂學習者而言，這些通則雖然需要長時間的浸淫與磨練才能掌握得好，但是能夠先明瞭整個大方向，總是一件好事。因此，在此筆者也希望能分享一些建議，希望能幫助各位，從對於爵士樂的好奇，進而習慣爵士樂，讓爵士樂成為您生活中的喜好：

 

爵士樂的風格有很多種，先聽自己喜歡的

 

　　人對於喜歡的事情，總是不吝付出比較多的心力，不管您是藉由唱片廣播、電視電影配樂、媒體廣告、或是現場演奏等愛上某首爵士樂曲或風格形態，建議您別害羞，多邁出一步，藉由上網或學校社團聚會，與同好詢問音樂資訊，網路上永遠不乏熱心的樂迷會樂意回答您的問題，當然就跟其他的網路社群生態一樣，發問之前如果先能詳細些描述，也就容易得到比較清楚的回應，而當然，這些都只是建議，不能保證百分之百地符合您的喜愛，而資訊的正確度也不是那麼高，然而就跟路是人問出來的、好價錢是貨比三家的道理一樣，多參詢不同人的建議，然後自己再整理比對，也是比較有效率的方式。

　　或者正如文首提到的，現今爵士樂的現場演奏較過往興盛許多，不管是國外來的爵士大師或是本地的爵士好手，演出的場所也不僅限於酒館或Pub，如果在您的周遭有任何的爵士樂演出，建議您不妨於演出結束後上前與樂手攀談，爵士樂手們是全世界最好親近的音樂家們，他們幾乎都會樂意回答您的問題，分享影響他們的音樂與樂手。或是您也可以鼓起勇氣，直接向您身旁一起聆聽的聽眾提問（小祕訣：通常就是那位每回樂手即興完畢第一位鼓掌的人……），搞不好您會因而交到不少音樂上的同好呢！

　　筆者在諸多的場合中，就常親身遇到看來氣質典雅的女孩，最喜歡的是兇猛的爵士放克（Jazz Funk）風格，還有家庭主婦來信分享北歐爵士樂手音樂所帶給她生活上的美感喜悅；甚至我還清楚記得一位穿著汗衫的歐吉桑，熱情地在我們演奏爵士樂時賣力地擺動身軀跳舞呢！誰說爵士樂應該如何聽才對？或一定要有相當的身分階級才能聽爵士樂呀？

 

從延伸聆聽做起，而不要依照年代風格囫圇吞棗

 

　　有很多人因為想要認真接觸爵士樂，便開始尋覓相關的爵士樂資訊，然而大多時候被嚇退的原因，其實是因為看錯了參考資訊，就好比想要找一家好吃的餐廳，卻讀 到一本教你如何做菜的食譜一樣，雖然範疇相近但是卻沒有直接的連結關係。所以，樂手教材、學術論述、聆聽指南與心情故事雖然都是書，但是還是不一樣的，拿國內一度極為流行的日本作家村上春樹著作來說，爵士樂的種種在他的筆下，都化成了小說與散文的絕佳素材，這也是身為爵士樂迷的村上春樹在創作上的自然投射，然而我們不會拿村上春樹的作品來教您如何演奏爵士樂，當然更不可能將其作為學術文章的重要依據。所以說，如果您被村上的文字所感動，那麼不妨將他所提到的音樂都找來聽聽看，如果您也突然起了雞皮疙瘩，那麼這就是延伸聆聽的旅程開始了！

　　在Web2.0的時代裡，因為部落格的興起，許多資深或感性的爵士聆聽者，往往藉由此道記錄他（她）們的聆聽心得與感想。就吸引更多人加入爵士樂聆賞行列 的立場而言，絕對是有益的！就跟您今天去平溪玩，回來會寫篇遊記一樣，肯定是以自己的第一印象出發寫作，如想要進一步了解平溪的歷史、更多美麗的路線，錯過了下次可以再去拜訪的景點等，都還是可以持續進行的不是嗎？

　　因此，對於爵士樂的歷史、爵士樂手的生平，在聆聽音樂的同時，其實都不是最迫切重要的事情，大可不必過度焦慮，爵士樂的分類法本來就不是那麼地明確，分法也不真的那麼嚴謹（有些是比較性形容詞、有的是音樂手法、有的是地域特色等），即便依據興起的年代，知道爵士樂有紐奧良、搖擺、咆勃、酷派、精純咆勃、後咆勃、調式爵士、融合爵士、世界風爵士樂、當代爵士等「風格」，但這些幾乎都是密不可分的相對連結關係，絕沒有「一種爵士樂死亡造成另一種爵士樂誕生」的制式過程，各位不妨可以從了解各類風格的特徵來著手，然後往前往後延伸開來，勝過於強迫自己書都要從第一頁開始翻起……

　　與其困在一堆來不及消化、似懂非懂的名詞或「不可不聽」榜單中，筆者還比較寧可欣見許多人因為米老鼠與唐老鴨的迪士尼配樂而認識紐奧良爵士；因為看了電影「神鬼玩家」或「忘了我是誰」而愛上搖擺樂風及名曲，如果再經提點，就會是個不錯的延伸方式了！
